All my practice is paying off. I am working on a 9-patch sampler quilt. I am about a quarter of the way through quilting it, and I’m really pleased with the results. Each block is quilted with designs to go with the piecing.
All the feathers from B2′s quilt paid off. These are better than anything on there, but doing so many helped me learn.
This was done free-style with no marking, so it is kind of off-centre in a few points, but overall I’m happy with it.
I really like looking at the back. This shows how far I’ve come with tension, speed, and being able to trace a line.
The only down side to free-motion quilting that I’ve found is how much thread is used. I had to take a break for a couple of days because I ran out and have to get the quilt shop to stock up. I’ll try not to buy anything else while I’m there. Maybe I should ask for quilting thread for my birthday?

Beautiful job! Free motion quilting is an art I have yet to master, but your work inspires me!
My immediate response was Ohhhhh.. Beautiful.
Your FMQ is wonderful! I can definitely tell you’ve been practicing. FMQ does take a tremendous amount of thread. I had a large throw size quilt that took 3 spools of Isacord – miles of thread.
Wow! This is beautiful. Good job 🙌
Beautiful quilting. Your feathers are lovely!
Well, maybe buy just a little fabric – you have to have something quilt after you buy new thread.
I began building a stash of fabric. Then I found FMQ and now I am building a thread stash.
Your FMQ is really nice.
I find it difficult to leave a shop with just thread!
I have to go buy sewing needles tomorrow. I wonder if I can get out of the shop with just that? Ha ha, no way. : )
The feathers are perfect for that block and look great. I like the other block as well.
