I am excited about my first Korean patchwork project. It is called a miniature tea cloth. It is 40 cm x 32 cm, so it’s basically the size of a large placemat. It is made out of silk with silk thread. Silk wrapping clothes like these are traditionally made to wrap, carry and give things. Some are quite large.
Because it is made with summer silk, it is translucent. I love the way it looks hanging in a window on a sunny day. It looks better in life than in the picture. I have seen pictures of very large pieces of patchwork used as window coverings. I think it would be beautiful, but I don’t have any big projects planned yet.
